Jingle Juice

It’s only two days until Christmas – how did that happen?  There are no hints of cookies left in my house as I shipped most of them away to family and took the rest in to my coworkers.  So, I don’t have a cookie recipe for you today but instead have a festive little cocktail, Jingle Juice.  This drink has orange juice, lemon juice, vodka, orange liqueur, and cherry juice and packs a punch!  My lips puckered a bit when I first tried this because it’s pretty acidic so if I make this again, I’ll swap out some of the orange juice for sparkling water.  Substituting lemon-lime soda for the vodka and orange liqueur would make this a fun mocktail for any kiddos running around also so if you need something festive for a Holiday party, a weekend get-together or just for sitting by the fire watching Home Alone (again), check this out!

Happy Holidays and best wishes, everyone!

Clementine Cosmo

My aunt came to my house with a crate of clementines in tow last week and as much as I love clementines, I just couldn’t eat them all.  So, I found this recipe for a Clementine Cosmo and thought I’d give it a try.  I’m a pretty big orange fan so I figured this cocktail would be to my liking.  Clementine juice is mixed with vodka, triple sec, and a spit of lime juice and shaken with ice.  This is definitely a stiff cocktail that is meant to be sipped and enjoyed slowly.  I sipped on mine last Sunday while I watched some terrible football and put up my Christmas tree.  I’m officially into the holiday spirit!  Clementines, as well as blood oranges, satsuma oranges, tangerines, and other oranges, are coming into season so take advantage of them!  So what if you get one of your daily fruit servings from a cocktail?  I won’t judge.  😉

Pear and Sparkling Cider Cocktails

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Yesterday I made special Turkey Day cocktails which celebrated some of autumn’s delicious flavors. These Pear and Sparkling Cider Cocktails contain pear nectar, sparkling apple cider, seltzer water, and a little bit of bourbon. I poured myself one of these early Thanksgiving morning and enjoyed it’s refreshingly light taste. I gave this cocktail to my family who all agreed that this would be ideal for a brunch (we drank the whole pitcher before noon!). I love the flavor of the pear in this drink but if you can’t find pear nectar (I searched three grocery stores before I finally found it tucked away in the international foods section of my local store), this cocktail would also be good with mango or peach nectar. No matter how you make it, this fizzy little beverage is one to try, holiday or not.

If you like this, check out Ginger Apple Bourbon.
