Hi, I’m Shannon.
I’ve been collecting recipes from various sources (magazines, online, television) for many, many years. I collect the recipes in one big book which is falling apart and getting bigger by the day. Despite having the best of intentions of making all of these recipes, I tend to find I keep making the same boring food all the time. So I thought what’s the point in having these recipes if I don’t ever make them? I figured what the heck? Start a blog and start cooking!
I’ll give my opinion of the recipes by showing an overall rating which I will summarize as: Love It, Like It, So-So and Not So Much – I’m sure you understand. I’ll also provide links to the recipes I make which note the sources of my recipes (I can’t reprint them because they aren’t mine!) and I will indicate if there are any substitutions, omissions, or additions. The only credit I take for these recipes is my attempt at making them! Eventually, I would like to have enough faith in myself to create my own recipes so if I ever do, I’ll proudly (or not-so-proudly) let you know.
I used to stand right next to my mom as she cooked dinner every night after she worked a long day. Having lost her as a teenager, I cherish those memories and know now when I cook, she is there with me. Now that I have a full-time job of my own, I have even more respect for her. I haven’t had any culinary training so everything I know, I learned from her (and maybe a little bit from the Food Network!). Cooking is my stress-reliever, my happy place, and completely necessary for my sanity. As a result of this blog, I hope that I’ll be left with an expanded palette, some new recipes, new friends, new memories, and some added confidence in the kitchen. And maybe you will too!
Thanks for stopping by and let’s get cooking!

I just found your blog after reading Cooking Light which names you “Fan of the Month”. I love it and what you are doing! So fun! I too collect recipes and then cook the same stuff over and over again! I can’t wait to try some of your recommendations!
Sally
PS I am not a fan of onions either……
Thanks so much, Sally! I’m so glad you can relate to what I’m doing and are enjoying the blog. Please subscribe if you like it or check back every now and then! 🙂
I made it to your blog after the notification on facebook – it’s awesome! I shall try to stop by and see what you’re cooking. However, if you really want to try cooking onions, try Cooking Lights Onion Tart in the April 2011 mag. It’s become a neighborhood standard for get togethers!
Great, thanks for the tip! 🙂
Hi Shannon – The name of your blog caught my eye today as I flipped through the pages of my Dec 2011 Cooking Light mag. As soon as I got my hands on my iPad, I headed right over. I don’t think anyone who loves food and loves to cook can resist clipping, printing, and borrowing recipes – perhaps you’ve inspired me to dig through my pile and start cooking a few! I’ll stop by again…….
I’m so glad you found my blog through Cooking Light! I still have soooo many of their recipes to make! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come back! 🙂
Hi Shannon! I too saw your blog in my Cooking Light magazine. I’m not too far from you..we live in Mantua just outside Washington Twp. Love the blog and have you on my google reader already!
Thanks so much, Laura! I really hope you like it!
Hi Shannon- Love the blog and your pictures are great. They look like something out of a magazine and make me want to get cooking!
